The story of Alisa from Zaporizhzhia

I fell in love with the family that I will talk about today. They are from Zaporizhzhia.

Cancer is always a change of plans, life and outlook. All of us who have lived through it know how dramatically everything changes. You pack your bags and rush to save the child. I remember the first photos of Alisa, when they were in the hospital bomb shelter, together with other patients…

Sometimes it happens that after hiding from the outer darkness, you fall into the inner darkness – on the other side of the hospital ward door. You face indescribable coldness and indifference. Superiority and tactlessness. And you “humble yourself”, you have to because if you say something, it will affect your child’s treatment… You simply cannot imagine how much trouble I heard during the last few years.

And every such story, which concerned a small citizen of Ukraine, raised the worst emotions in my being. But to avoid crying and quarreling, I directed all this anger to Heaven. I cried and screamed: “It shouldn’t be like this! We are PEOPLE! Our children are the best!” To which I always heard the answer (from Heaven): “Go and do better! You know how it should be!”

That’s why I’m going! Fast and confident! Because I wish that when a mother and a child come for treatment, they can relax, and the best, worthy, noble Doctors, Medical Workers and simply God’s people take care of them. That is why we are building “Timosha’s Smile”! And let Christian Hospitals begin to open in Ukraine after the victory. Because who but us, the Church?

The rescue story of Grebenyuk family! Alona’s mother letter:

Hello! We are Grebenyuk family from Zaporizhzhia!

Our family consists of mom, dad, and two wonderful children Misha and Alisa.

We lived, worked, dreamed, and everything broke down in one moment – the war! We thought that this was grief, but trouble does not come alone. We found out that our little girl, our little princess, had leukemia. Everything was like crazy. We didn’t know what to do, what would happen to us but we knew for sure that it was impossible to stay in Zaporizhzhia!

With God’s help, all our acquaintances and friends began to help us. And by some miracle, we came to “Timosha’s Smile” Foundation, which was founded by Yuliia and Yura. They gave us confidence that everything will be fine! God heard our prayers, and we were invited to Italy, to the best clinic in Europe. We left Zaporizhzhia (we were told that we had two days to get to the clinic and start therapy).

First, we went with our family by car to Warsaw, and then – my daughter and I flew by plane to Italy. Thanks to “Timosha’s Smile”, our plane tickets were paid for by the FLYING ANGELS Foundation.

Yulia and Yura treated each of us as if we were family – they met us, and explained how the treatment would be carried out. Without their help, we would not be in Italy!

And here we are, undergoing treatment. It is not easy and long-lasting, as the doctors say. We believe that God will save our girl and heal her! We thank all the kind people who have helped and are helping our family in everything, and especially “Timosha’s Smile”, who does not leave us and is very supportive. We thank God for meeting them! 🙏
